I urge everyone to please read the following post by the raiders before voting on how to handle rookie picks for 2014. Randomizing the order is grossly unfair. Just imagine if you get 1.32... Someone else is getting teddy Bridgewater or the top RB or WR. Raiders explain it well
here - My vote is for the 2014 rookie picks to be included in the initial auction. If you want the 1.01 - pay for it. Leaving it to random draw is grossly unfair, IMO - There is a HUGE difference between ( 1.01 + 2.32 ) and ( 1.32 + 2.01 ). I would like to forward that the 2014 Round 1 Rookie Pick should be included in the initial auction as a 'player' up for auction bids. Given that it is a 32 team league, a rookie snake draft is grossly overloaded to the first several picks. Leaving a 32 team rookie snake up to random chance in a start up dynasty is not fair, IMO. If someone really wants the 1.01, he can outbid everyone else for it. Otherwise, by chance, I may get pick 32, which historically has been far less valuable than the 1.01. Even the combination of 1.01 and 2.32 is far more valuable than the 1.32 and the 2.01 - I've looked at 2 IDP dynasty rookie drafts for 2013 and 1.01 yielded Gio or Bell or the like - whereas 1.32 would have been an LB ( Ogletree or Alonso if you were reaching, going against the vast majority of published rookie cheat sheets and got lucky, but you should have ended up with Mingo or Bostic or Jones or Minter - they have done nothing ) and if you wanted an Offensive player, maybe you got RB Taylor or WR Rogers or RB Randle or WR Boyce - aka, zeros i hope this makes sense, I am writing this as I try to score One Direction Concert tix for my 12 y/o daughter and she keeps asking for updates.... We did this in a dynasty I am in, the top picks of the rookie draft were purchased in the auction and only 5 players were available via auction. It works and it is fair. Bottomline, randomly choosing rookie draft order in a 32 team dynasty start up is grossly unfair, in my humble opinion. Thanks for your time and attention, have a great day Raiders

Hey ghost i'm thinking perhaps putting the 1st round picks in auction and then random snaking rds 2-5, let me know what you think about that.

I agree with that... the difference between 2.1, 3.32 and 2.32, 3.1 is nothing compared to 1.1, 2.32 and 1.32, 2.1.

The above action would be much better, but i still favor the lowest dollars spent = highest pick method. The guy who has 50m spent def has no studs unless someone emerges out of no where. So that guy deserves a chance at a stud especially because hes gonna be clawing his way into mediocrity if that pick hits. The 100m guy likely has a full lineup and doesnt need the extra depth a draft pick would provide.
A couple problems i see with the allotting a certain group as 1st rounders is that your 1st rounders in May are often very different from your 1st rounders in August, and the penalty in an auction process is many times larger then a set salary. No one even knows what they really got in said rook for a minimum of 4 weeks into the season or much much longer. The premium on high rooks goes way up in a 32teamer and there will be the 2 or 3 hawks and the 5-10 guys just doing what they can to get a couple.

Its a risk to go for the rookies, that's something people should weigh. But what I wonder is why would someone only spend $50? Doesn't even make sense to me... Usually people either blow their load early and end up with 20 top/overpaid guys or they wait it out and end up with 40 cheap guys but little to no top talent. There's not much reason to save your money especially since most all of the talented guys get signed to longer contracts meaning no good FA's. I'll admit I like the idea better than random... At least you could strategize, but I still think everyone spends 80+ million.

Grem I like your idea as well, but it is kind of the same as auctioning off the draft picks in a sense. Teams that want heavy rooks will bid for those rooks

After re-reading Grem's post I think he might be confused... I don't think we would be auctioning certain rookies, we would just be auctioning off the picks. So for example you could bid on pick 1.1, 1.2, 1.3... 1.32. You're bidding for the draft spot not any certain player. You won't actually draft the player in the draft spot until after the Vet draft, whenever we decide to do the Rookie draft.

Oh... yea I was confused. I was assuming the players were being drafted. My bad.
